Mediterranean RaqsBand formed in Feb of 2003 to work towards providing dancers with music they WANT to dance to!

Directed by internationally known belly dancer, Saqra (Seattle, WA), RaqsBand features classic dance music specifically for bellydance. Modern and classic Egyptian, Greek, Turkish, Armenian, Persian all are represented in this exotic mix.

The band includes Saqra (Oriental quarter tone keyboard, harmonium, keyboard dulcimer, and vocals); David Metz on power dumbek and general percussion and Jeff Raybuck on Mizmar, Tar, Riq and the mighty cowbell. Band members have studied with many specialty artists both in America and abroad in Egypt and Turkey and strive to present quality music in performances across the US and in Canada.
